Soccer

Emily is playing soccer again this year. Her skills are improving, but she's not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped. It's getting hard to get her to go to the games. She always has fun at practice, but I think that's because she likes goofing off with her friends. She'll probably do a different sport next year, but for the meantime, we are enjoying being outside and cheering her on!

Boating in September

We took advantage of some unusually warm (90 degree) September weather last week and went out on the boat with my family. Emily and Angela thought it was very cool to leave school an hour early to go boating. The water was pretty cold, but it actually felt good getting in after being in a wetsuit in the sun getting ready to ski. We didn't get any pictures of it, but I surfed for the first time and it was pretty fun.

Angela really enjoyed pulling the rope in.
For some reason Nicole wanted to have her shirt off most of the time.

First Day of School!

Yesterday was the first day of school. Emily is in 2nd grade and Angela in kindergarten. I can't believe I have 2 kids in school. I really enjoyed having Emily home for the summer and I thought I wouldn't be ready for school to start, but by this week I was tired of the sibling rivalry and ready for a schedule and less kids to take to the store.

Oaks Park

We took the kids to Oaks Park during the last week of summer. They had never been to an amusement park before so I thought they'd be scared on the rides, but they were really brave. Emily was one inch shorter than she needed to be for a lot of the rides, but Matthew was able to get her on Rock'n Roll, the one where the cars go around in a circle really fast and then they go reverse. She was very proud of herself that she wasn't scared. We took Nicole on a couple of rides, but she didn't like it. So Nicole and I rode the carousel a few times while Matthew took the kids to do other things.

Emily and Angela both said they really wanted to go on the kiddie roller coaster, but as soon as it went around the first corner and picked up speed, they were pretty scared. I don't think they realized what it would be like. This is Matthew and Angela in the front.
