Thanksgiving 2008

We had Thanksgiving dinner with the Taylors this year. We had a great time and we had much to be thankful for.

Emily had so much fun playing all her Christmas songs for us.

Nicole was so friendly with everyone. She wanted nothing to do with me the whole evening. My other girls weren't like that until they were about 5, so it was pretty amazing.

Twilight Girls Night Out

Last Friday night I went with a bunch of friends to Costa Vida for dinner and then to the Twilight movie. I enjoyed the movie, although not as good as the book of course, but mostly enjoyed being out with friends! We got to the theater an hour and a half early because we figured there would be crazy Twilighters there and wanted to get seats together. However, there were only 2 girls there before us, so WE were the crazy Twilighters. Thanks to Mel and Jolyn for planning!

It was fun to spend some time with Benjamin and Melissa. Matthew and Benjamin played golf all 3 days.

Halloween

We started out the evening at our ward's trunk-or-treat at the park and then took the girls trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. A few days before Halloween I asked Emily what her favorite part of Halloween is and she said trick-or-treating in the dark. Thankfully, the rain stopped earlier in the day and it wasn't too cold either.

I made Emily and Angela's costumes this year. I love to sew and Halloween costumes are so fun. But of course, it turned into a lot of work and it was hard to get them done on time. The girls really like them and have already spent many hours dancing around in them, so that makes it worth it.

Emily is Giselle from Enchanted

Angela is Princess Alexa from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. I figured most people wouldn't know who that is (only people with 3-5 year old girls would know), but on our way into the school Halloween party last week, I heard a little girl about 4 years old say to her mom, "She's from Barbie and the Diamond Castle." I'm so glad to know at least one little girl recognized her!

I even made matching bows for them. I am so proud of myself because I have never been very good at making bows, but I keep trying and I think I'm getting better at it.

Nicole definitely got the hang of trick-or-treating. She had so much fun, even saying thank you each time. She got tricky and tried to take at least 2 pieces of candy each time. I didn't get her a costume because I knew it would turn into a temper tantrum to get her to wear it, so she wore the only dress up the house she will wear which is this purple cape. So you can use your imagination to decide what she is. We decided that she was ET because when she would walk around with the hood on, holding the cape together in front of her, that's exactly what she looked like. Here's a couple of pictures to give you an idea of what we mean, but I didn't get a great picture of it.

Decorating Cookies on Halloween

We didn't have school on Halloween this year (a convenient Teacher Work Day). I wish I could say we did all kinds of fun Halloween activities during the day, but we just stayed home and that was nice after a busy month. I did let the girls decorate cookies during Nicole's nap though and it was nice they could do it themselves this year. As usual, they had more fun decorating them than eating them.

For some reason, the girls were doing all kinds of silly faces and poses through all of the Halloween photos. Getting a picture of everyone smiling and looking forward was pretty impossible.
