We started out the evening at our ward's trunk-or-treat at the park and then took the girls trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. A few days before Halloween I asked Emily what her favorite part of Halloween is and she said trick-or-treating in the dark. Thankfully, the rain stopped earlier in the day and it wasn't too cold either.I made Emily and Angela's costumes this year. I love to sew and Halloween costumes are so fun. But of course, it turned into a lot of work and it was hard to get them done on time. The girls really like them and have already spent many hours dancing around in them, so that makes it worth it.
Angela is Princess Alexa from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. I figured most people wouldn't know who that is (only people with 3-5 year old girls would know), but on our way into the school Halloween party last week, I heard a little girl about 4 years old say to her mom, "She's from Barbie and the Diamond Castle." I'm so glad to know at least one little girl recognized her!
I even made matching bows for them. I am so proud of myself because I have never been very good at making bows, but I keep trying and I think I'm getting better at it.

Nicole definitely got the hang of trick-or-treating. She had so much fun, even saying thank you each time. She got tricky and tried to take at least 2 pieces of candy each time. I didn't get her a costume because I knew it would turn into a temper tantrum to get her to wear it, so she wore the only dress up the house she will wear which is this purple cape. So you can use your imagination to decide what she is. We decided that she was ET because when she would walk around with the hood on, holding the cape together in front of her, that's exactly what she looked like. Here's a couple of pictures to give you an idea of what we mean, but I didn't get a great picture of it.

Very cute! Did you have a pattern for Giselle? I couldn't find one so I did the whole thing from scratch. It was a challenge, but she loved how it turned out. I actually made it in two separatae dresses so she can use the bottom one for a nightgown. I'm glad it's over! All the girls look great! Darcey
Wow Jessica, you are great at sewing!! Those costumes turned out really good. Your girls are so cute.
Jessica, those look great!!! I love the Giselle costume. Very impressive! I have to admit that after doing so many years of princesses, fairies, and other girly stuff I'm ready for everyone to be zombies next year!
Wow, I am so jealous that you can sew that good. Maybe if I ever got my sewing machine out of it's box and actually used it once in a while I could get that good. I just don't have any room to sew in our house right now. I love the dresses!!! They turned out so cute!!!
You did such a wonderful job with the sewing. What a wonderful mom you are for planning all your fun Halloween activities
You're girls looked so cute as well! I am amazed at your sewing ability...one day I would like to get to that point too! When I first looked at Emily in that last picture, it totally made me think of Melissa. I love seeing what you are all up to!
Oh Jessica! You did an AMAZING job, they look gorgeous!! I finally got a really good sewing machine... although I won't be doing anything quite like that for some time now. My first projects are curtains and quilts (with very large squares) for the younger two boys' room. Anyway, it looks like you had a really fun Halloween!! I just can't get over how much your three girls look alike... and how big they are getting. I showed Kaden your blog, and he remembers Emily. =)
Great hobby! Wow, you are amazing! The costumes get better and better every year.
If you had a boy what costume would yo make for him? Maybe I could use your idea for next year.
